Charlotte Piché Founder, Designer, Bandmate…
In the world of jewelry, some designs transcend accessorizing to become wearable art. For Deux Lions founder Charlotte Piché, the journey of creation is rooted in more than aesthetics—it’s an exploration of self-expression, nature, and the beauty found in imperfection. This philosophy is brought to life in The Art of Adornment, our latest collaboration. Together, we’ve crafted a limited-edition holiday capsule that captures our shared dedication to thoughtful, timeless design.
A Journey Back to Nature
Charlotte’s creative journey began in Montreal, where her initial explorations into jewelry design were driven by a desire for freedom in a sometimes rigid fashion world. Starting with handcrafted pieces made from leather cords and feathers, Charlotte’s passion for jewelry took off when she studied metalsmithing in New York. Her return to Montreal to launch Deux Lions felt like a natural step—a chance to build a Canadian brand centered on sustainability, local craftsmanship, and enduring quality.
With Deux Lions now spanning over a decade, Charlotte has cultivated a distinct aesthetic that is bold, minimal, and deeply inspired by the natural world. “Nature never ceases to amaze me,” she says, reflecting on her experiences drawing inspiration from vast landscapes and quiet moments in the outdoors. For Charlotte, nature offers a sense of grounding that informs each piece she creates.
A Collaboration Rooted in Shared Values
The partnership with &OR Collective was a natural fit, fueled by a mutual appreciation for design that prioritizes both form and function. The collaboration started with a Montreal pop-up event, where Charlotte noticed a seamless blend between Deux Lions’ jewelry and &OR’s apparel. “We saw how our products complemented each other, creating a cohesive style that felt both modern and timeless,” she shares. This initial synergy quickly evolved into a partnership, giving rise to a collection that captures the essence of both brands.
The Art of Adornment collection is an embodiment of &OR’s focus on duality and versatility, core themes that resonated with Charlotte’s creative process. With this project, she was drawn to &OR’s vision of organic, raw elegance and sought to bring these elements to life in the designs. The result? Isla and Mesa—two sculptural necklaces that echo the forms found in nature and embody a minimalist yet bold style. Crafted to be worn as necklaces, bracelets, or even hairpieces, each piece invites you to find your own way of styling, emphasizing versatility as a modern approach to sustainability.
From Inspiration to Creation
For Charlotte, inspiration often strikes during solitary moments in nature, allowing her to uncover the quiet beauty in organic shapes. In designing Isla and Mesa, she found herself on a walk, instinctively gathering stones whose imperfect yet balanced shapes served as the muse for the collection. “Mother nature showed me exactly what I had in mind,” she reflects, “so I sketched their silhouettes and transformed them into pendants.” The final designs reflect this connection to the earth, with smooth curves and asymmetrical forms that feel both grounded and elegant.
Alongside the necklaces, the collection features our Terra pouch (what the team coined as The Everything Bag), a versatile clutch crafted in rich chocolate brown nubuck leather and adorned with a sculptural stone zipper pull designed by Deux Lions. This pouch, effortlessly transitioning from a makeup bag to a clutch, ties the collection together with a shared sense of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Crafted with Intention
Working closely with her brother and co-Founder in Montreal ensured each piece was made with high-quality materials, from the sterling silver and 14k gold vermeil of the necklaces to the thoughtfully sourced Japanese cord that completes each design. For Deux Lions, this collection was an opportunity to honor the earth’s raw beauty while pushing the boundaries of versatility.
As Deux Lions prepares to open a studio in Los Angeles, Charlotte continues to draw inspiration from her roots and her love for the natural world. This collaboration with &OR Collective, she hopes, will invite people to explore, adapt, and find their own unique way of wearing the thoughtfully made pieces.
